Who gets confused trying to figure out what skin type they have..??

If you're one of these peeps, you'll be happy to know that it really isn't all that difficult.

There are five skin types: normal, oily, dry, combination and sensitive. Each type has its own characteristics that make it easy to identify.

Once you work out which skin type you have it will help to take care of it properly.

Remember you are never too young to start a good skin care routine.

Is not dry, not oily, and it feels supple and looks great. You’ll have a smooth and healthy looking complexion.

Skin Care for Normal Skin

Skin care products for normal skin are pretty easy to find. Look for products that are mild and non greasy. A gentle cleansing soap and a good moisturizer designed for normal skin is a great choice. If you want to tone up skin, find a toning formula that is alcohol free.

For the rest of your body, a mild moisturizing lotion is a great idea right after your shower each day.

If you have dry skin, you’ll notice that there are no oily places on your face and it may feel tight and flaky as well.

Skin Care for Dry Skin

Skin care is a bit tricky for dry skin. You want to cleanse without causing more drying. Avoid a cleanser that has drying agents in it. Go with a moisturizing cleanser and a deep moisturizer for your face.

For your body, you’ll want to go with a heavy moisturizer to keep skin well hydrated. Another good tip is to use a good moisturizer before applying makeup.

Oily skin often looks shinyl. Your pores may be enlarged and you may have problems with acne breakouts. Your skin will start the day by feeling clean and fresh, but by lunchtime, feels greasy and slick.

Start with a deep cleanser that washes away dirt, oil and fights bacteria. Try foundations and powders that help control oily shine without causing dryness to skin.

Avoid touching your face during the day! Oils gets transferred to your face from your palms or fingers without you even realizing! Change your pillowcases more often. Oils can get trapped in the cloth and later irritate skin.

Skin Care for Oily Skin

You definitely want to avoid skin care products that have any oil in them. Make sure you use moisturizers that are not greasy. A good toner is great for keeping your pores tight.

If you want a face mask, go for one that will dry out oil and hydrate your face at the same time. You may need an acne treatment product as well.

Even though you have oily skin, don’t forget to moisturise. Instead, use a light moisturiser to keep skin hydrated that will not make your skin greasy.

Skin is dry in some places while often oily on your T-zone.

Choose an oil-managing powder for your T-zone (and other oily areas). Use a flexible make-up routine to help cope with combination skin's many moods.

Skin Care for Combination Skin

Choosing skin care products for combination skin can be a bit tricky. You want to get rid of the oil without over drying the rest of your skin.

For areas that are oily, use cleansers that control oil and moisturizers that are not greasy. Then for the dry areas, make sure you moisturizer more frequently. There are products that are specially designed for combination skin.

Sensitive skin often feels dry but can also be easily irritated and inflamed very easily. People with sensitive skin also get areas that are itchy and red and will need extra special care. Sensitive skin easily reacts with makeup, hair products, and even sudden changes in temperature and humidity!

Typical reactions are itching, burning, chafing and stinging skin. Don't use harsh facial washes or soaps whose main ingredients are alcohols or fragrances - they'll cause more skin irritation. Use an unscented moisturiser to strengthen your skin and provide a barrier against irritants. A key to clearness is in fragrance free makeup.

Skin Care for Sensitive Skin

With skin that is sensitive, it’s very important that you choose your skin care products carefully. Make sure that you use products that are hypoallergenic so that they don’t irritate the skin.

Be very gentle on the skin when you are using products. Don’t use harsh masks or peels on skin either, they will only irritate. Find a very gentle cleanser and a lotion that is very light and hypoallergenic as well.
