If you’re not sure what shape your face is, the easiest way to find out is to pull your hair back off your face and look directly into a mirror.

You can use a crayon or lipstick and draw on the mirror following the shape of your face.

Now stand back and you should see your shape clearly.

How to measure your face



Stand in front of a mirror.



Measure the width of your cheekbones - place the ruler across your nose measuring from the outside corner of both your eyes. Write your measurement down on your paper.



Measure the width of your jaw line – place the ruler along your left jaw line from your neck to the end of your chin. Multiply this measurement by 2 and write it down.



Measure the width of your forehead. Place the edge of the ruler at one end of your forehead, near the edge of your natural hairline (parallel to the space in between your ear and eye), and extend to the other side. Write down the measurement.



Measure the length of your face. Place the ruler along the front of your face, starting at the top of your forehead and ending at the bottom of your chin. Write the measurement down.



Use the written measurements to confirm your face shape.


Now with your measurements find out what shape your are.

Square Shape

You have a square face shape if: your face is as wide as it is long but with a more angular shape than a round face.

Facial Features:

Square shaped forehead, cheekbones and jaw line are the same in width
A squared jaw line


Round Shape

You have a round face shape if: your face is as wide as it is long. Close counts, so even if the two measurements aren't exactly the same, your face will be classified as round.

Round jaw line
Fuller wider cheeks


Heart Shape

You have a heart-shaped face if: you have a narrow jaw with wide cheekbones and/or forehead.

Facial Features:

Wider at the forehead
Usually defined cheekbones
Tapered narrow chin


Oval Shape

You have an oval face shape if: the length of your face equals one and a half times the width

Facial Features:

Wider Cheek bones
Narrow smooth jaw line
Narrow forehead
