Body Shape: Amazing 'A' Shape Bodies

Saturday, November 05, 2011

A slim torso, small to medium bust and a very well-defined waist with slightly larger hips, thighs and bottom.

Slender face & neck with sloping or narrow shoulders, narrow back and rounded calves.

Oh boy, you A's are almost too much woman to handle!

What we try to do with the amazing A body shape is to tone down those hips, those thighs and that bottom to give the guys a chance!

You A's will want to look at wearing designs that will give your shoulders and bust a bit more volume to balance out the effect of your lower areas. You'll also want to lengthen your silhouette a touch.

Top style tips for A-shapes

Look for designs that will add effect to your upper body; flounced or ruffled neck-lines, cleavage-enhancing scoop-necks (give those puppies a lift with a good push-up bra if necessary).

Patterned, shiny material is perfect for drawing the eye to your shoulder and chest area - just keep it plain on your lower half.

Halter tops that tie at the neck are great, as are strapless tops.

Go crazy with shoulder pads - yes they're back!

Get creative with rhinestone or beaded necklines.

Ball dresses for A-shapes

For the ball dress side of things you A's will want to steer clear of figure-hugging sleek designs.

Trust us - it's the empire-line, the floor length flowing design and the princess-cut dress that you'll be best suited to.

Anything that hugs your chest (obviously showing off your greatest natural assets...!) but leaves your lower half some freedom will help to balance out your body shape. The more fabric draping off your hips the better!

Colours for A-shapes

The exact opposite of the V shape - wear those bold patterns and colours on your chest and leave the plain dark fabrics for your lower half.

Shoes for A-shapes

Sleek shoes with a thin heel are best for you, and give those open-toed heels a go too. Also a winner for you A shapers is the pointed-toe; they add length to your profile.

Underwear for A-shapes

A shapes should aim at visually increasing the breast size and also reducing the size of the hips and bottom! Don't forget that what you wear underneath your well chosen clothes also makes a difference to the way you feel too!

DO emphasise your neck, bust, face waist and arms.
DON’T wear figure-hugging designs, light colours or bold patterns below the waist.
